Viginia Sadaowski and Elizabeth Sacalis first found out about Meher Baba in the early fifties and were among those who were able to spend time with him each time he visited America after that, and also at the East~West Gathering. They will share many of their stories tonight.

Topic: The Silence
Every July, we commemorate the day in 1925 when Meher Baba commenced his great silence. For the next 44 years, until the end of his life, he did not utter a word. No other single fact about Meher Baba is as well known or as compelling to the general public. And yet, what do we really understand about the silence and its significance? Tonight, the study group will search for answers in some of the many statements and stories surrounding this most enduring of Baba mysteries. Study materials will be distributed at the meeting.

Steve spent the better part of the 1970's and 80's, and parts of the 1990's living in Meherabad and helping the Mandali, most notably Eruch. Daphne also spent much time in Meherabad during that period and tonight they will share stories of their experiences of living in Meher Baba's home and with His close ones.

Topic: Meher Baba on Miracles
Meher Baba famously said that he did not perform miracles, and admonished his followers not to approach him with requests for miraculous intervention. On the other hand, occasionally Baba invited such requests, and countless miracles are attributed to him. Tonight, we will try to penetrate the seeming contradictions surrounding Meher Baba's miracles, using statements and stories from his life. Study materials will be provided at the meeting.

An Evening with Tex Hightower

Join us for a wonderful evening of touching stories of Tex's meetings with the Beloved. Tex first met Meher Baba in 1952. He was drawn into Baba’s orbit by his teacher and friend Margaret Craske, one of Meher Baba’s close disciples.

Two Talks by Bhau Kalchuri. Since Bhauji cannot be in New York in person, he joins us via videotape:
(1) Worker Walla Meeting - A Q&A session taped at the Ganz residence on June 10, 2003, in which Bhau illuminates some of the questions we encounter as we try to serve Meher Baba.
(2) Bhau at the Ludwig Residence - An entertaining talk that includes many of Bhauji's favorite Baba stories, with helpful insights into love, service and devotion in our daily lives.

Topic: The History of the Discourses
In the recent past, controversy has arisen around one of Meher Baba's great legacies, the Discourses. Some consider this work to be the word of God, and question the legitimacy of any editing done after Baba's death. Others point to the contributions of Dr. Deshmukh and others, suggesting that such contributions diminish in some way the Discourses' authenticity. In response to such questions, a detailed history of the Discourses was included in 2007's Revised Sixth Edition, shedding much light and dispelling many misconceptions. Tonight, the Study Group will consider this history in detail. Study materials will be distributed at the meeting.

Meher Baba's "Psychology:"
Emotional Experience and Spiritual Progress.
Allan will present ideas that have been helpful to Baba lovers who occasionally experience anxiety, depression or find themselves in interpersonal conflicts. Based on Baba's explanation of sanskaras and the involution of consciousness, Allan will suggest two very different perspectives (spiritual vs. psychological) to explain the cause of distressing experiences and hints on how to deal with them.
