An Evening with Davana Brown

     Please join us at Baba House for an informal evening of sharing and reminiscences with long time Meherazad resident, Davana Brown. Davana has spent over 30 years living in India as a spiritual trainee of the Avatar Meher Baba Trust. Eighteen of those years she has spent by the side of Eruch Jessawala as his personal secretary/assistant until his passing on August 31, 2001. Davana says, " My life stands in testimony to His promise to us all that God hears the longings of our heart."

        Baba in our Daily Lives: Utilizing the psycho-spiritual approach 
of the Psychology of Selves to facilitate the unwinding of sanskaras 
as in Baba's Discourses.
 
 Following the three-hour introduction in April on how the approach 
of the Psychology of Selves spontaneously supports Baba's Discourses, 
we are beginning a series of two-hour presentations, on a quarterly basis, focusing on specific themes. Baba said, "The obstacles to illumination 
are mental tendencies and desires connected with egoism, which are 
called sanskaras..."  In tonight's meeting we will identify major mental tendencies and desires we carry and through an experiential activity demonstrate how to begin separating from them on a psychological level.  Gradually this separation promotes a heightened awareness that 
facilitates the unwinding of sanskaras.

      The Avatar is changing everything, while being the consummate and compassionate psychotherapist. On this evening, we’ll explore some of these questions, taking a new look at what Meher Baba expects of those dedicated to God, what they may experience, and the incredible role of love, service and remembrance in the very daily-ness of life.

Northeast Sahavas Gathering for Meher Baba

      The 2010 Northeast Sahavas Gathering for Meher Baba will again be held at Camp Epworth in High Falls, NY, on the weekend of September 10th, 11th, and 12th.

      Guests are still to be decided upon and we continue to wish to make more of the program focused on the sharing of stories and interactive groups with the participants, which was so well received last year.

Clarification about Donations to the Avatar Meher Baba Trust.

With the recent effort to encourage donations to the Trust, some confusion has arisen regarding the deductibility for Federal income tax purposes of such donations.  Please be advised that donations sent through our Trustwalla, Shelley Steiner, intended for the "Firstly" part of the Trust, which includes stipends to the two remaining beneficiaries, are not tax-deductible.  However, if you wish to make a tax-deductible donation to the Corpus of the Trust or to the Development Fund, please make your check out to Meher Baba House, indicate on the check whether it is for Corpus or Development, and mail it to Don Eucker, 131 Sunrise Terrace, Cedar Grove, NJ  07009.  Don will forward the funds to the Trust along with the name of the donor.

Meher Baba House Board of Trustees Meeting

The Meher Baba House Board of Trustees meets
once a month to decide upon meetings and events,
and to coordinate projects to promote the remembrance
of Meher Baba in our daily lives. 

Any member of the Baba House community is welcome to attend Board meetings, either as an observer or to address the Board about a matter of individual concern.  If you wish to attend, please call or email the host before the meeting to be sure that the meeting will take place and to state your matter of concern so that it may be placed upon the agenda.
